Corporate Training

Corporate training or more recently known as workplace training has come to become a popular element designed to keep employees educated with the latest developments in their respective fields. Corporate training is very important to any organization as it provides the necessary training and qualification for the work force of an organization to perform at its optimum or even improve on business procedures. It usually falls on the responsibility of the HR team to identify areas in which training is necessary and to provide these training accordingly. How this is not always the case. These days organizations are open and receptive towards listening to their employees on the ground. It is very common for employees or team managers to request for specific training that would help themselves be better equipped for their jobs.

Though so, corporate training is almost always perceived as something that only benefits the organization and not the employee. This probably stems from the fact that most of these trainings are usually role centric and are very specific or relevant only to their current roles. Therefore employees find it hard to see a long term benefit in it for them. However, this is not the case. Though some of the training provided may be role centric, this is only a small fraction of the different types of corporate training out there. Organizations also have the option of providing “soft skill” training such as leadership training, effective communication or even team building.

The negative perception of corporate training is slowly being changed. In a recent LinkedIn survey, it was discovered that 94% of respondents say that they would commit to staying longer in an organization that would invest in their betterment by providing education and learning opportunities. Ensuring corporate training is not something done just out of necessity but with the best interest of the employees is not difficult. For starters, having team managers involved in the planning process is crucial as they are the ones who oversee their respective teams on a day to day basis. They are the ones who would be most aware of the training their team members need to optimize themselves thus making sure that the training being offered will actually provide employees with a benefit.

The next thing would be to offer product knowledge training. This could be anything from Microsoft Office to Adobe Illustrator training, it is always beneficial to take a refresher course on these softwares. Whether the employee is a new hiree or a senior in that field, taking a course on it would help them relearn some skills that they may have forgotten or learn new ways to utilize the tool so as to simplify their day to day lives.

With all that being said, it is no wonder why corporate training is so important on both an organizational and individual level.
