Due to the ongoing situation with the pandemic, there has been a push now more than ever to go digital. According to a McKinsey study, the change brought by the pandemic has accelerated digitization from anywhere between 3 to 7  years. This is especially true in Asia where digitization has sped up more drastically and at a higher rate than the rest of the world. Experts predict that these changes are not temporary and have truly sped up the process of digitization.

Part of the reason why this is necessary is because of the shift of consumers moving towards online channels, thus businesses are only responding in accordance by shifting most of their efforts towards online measures as well. There are both pro’s and con’s to this of course. While digitisation is indeed an inevitable and necessary change, the rate in which we have moved towards digitisation leads to many gaps and flaws. There is also the flip side of this. Some organizations, especially those set in their ways, would have never even contemplated pursuing these changes unless they were in a situation where it was absolutely necessary.

Artificial intelligence, newer technologies, cloud implementations, and remote-working solutions are all examples of digital transformation. When it comes to avoiding errors, data analysis is a vital tool, but it’s also crucial to remember the individuals engaged in business, especially since we don’t always see them. This makes communication one of the most important tools you could invest in. Communication determines the success or failure of any given project and thus it is vital to invest in a digital communications platform such as Slack or Teams.

Another major struggle when adopting digital transformation is managing an increasingly complex environment while ensuring access to IT resources and applications due to a limit in funds or resources. You can maximize your limited resources using VMware solutions for small and medium businesses, allowing you to focus on your business. To put VMWare in simple terms, it is like having another machine installed in your device allowing for different and multiple systems to run concurrently. It allows companies to test new systems that they are keen to explore without having to purchase any additional hardware or software to run this new system. This ultimately leads to less cost, no down time and more flexibility to support your remote staff across their various systems.

Though there may be a plethora of tools that help make digitization a lot smoother and simpler, it is still useless unless your staff is adequately trained to fully utilize these tools. Otherwise, you face the risk of adding an increased workload while decreasing productivity. In untrained hands, these tools are a burden rather than a solution. Above it all we come back to ensuring that the team is ready and well equipped to manage these tools. There are a number of online certifications out there for various business management suites and tools. Anything from foundational Microsoft PowerPoint courses right up to advanced VMWare certifications, there is a training course for it all. All you need to do now is asses which tools your staff need to master and to get them trained so they make the most of these tools and achieve their highest potential on a day to day basis.
