SECS/GEM Python Programming

The SECS/GEM is the semiconductor's equipment interface protocol for equipment-to-host data communications. In an automated fab, the interface can start and stop equipment processing, collect measurement data, change variables and select recipes for products. The SECS (SEMI Equipment Communications Standard)/GEM (Generic Equipment Model) standards do all this in a defined way. Adding a SECS/GEM interface to an equipment is the first step in automation. Without the proper toolset, this can seem like an overwhelming endeavor. An overview course and basic introduction of SECS/GEM and its usage in the semiconductor industry to the beginner.

Anyone who wants to apply SECS/GEM for machine automation.

Basically, this course is for anyone with Python programming knowledge and experience.

This program will be conducted with interactive lectures, PowerPoint presentation, discussion and practical exercise.

SECS/GEM is a widely deployed communication interface that relies on robust TCP/IP networking in its modern form. The protocol has been of extreme value in the Semiconductor and Electronic industries by enabling extensive automation which prevents costly mistakes and relieves humans of tedious, repetitive, and error prone work. The outcome of SECS/GEM course are:

• automated systems are able to establish or verify proper equipment setup before processing,

• measurement tools are able to transfer important data without operator transcription handling systems are able to coordinate moving and transferring material automatically
