DP-201T01: Designing an Azure Data Solution

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

In this course, the students will design various data platform technologies into solutions that are in line with business and technical requirements. This can include on-premises, cloud, and hybrid data scenarios which incorporate relational, No-SQL or Data Warehouse data. They will also learn how to design process architectures using a range of technologies for both streaming and batch data.

The students will also explore how to design data security including data access, data policies and standards. They will also design Azure data solutions which includes the optimization, availability and disaster recovery of big data, batch processing and streaming data solutions.

AUDIENCE

The primary audience for this course is data professionals, data architects, and business intelligence professionals who want to learn about the data platform technologies that exist on Microsoft Azure as well as Azure Data Engineers who design and implement the management, monitoring, security, and privacy of data using the full stack of Azure data services to satisfy business needs.

This training course along with DP-200 prepares the students for the Microsoft Certified Azure Data Engineer Associate certification. To achieve the certification, participants need to pass both DP-200: Implementing an Azure Data Solution and DP-201: Designing an Azure Data Solution exams.

The DP-200 exam measures your ability to accomplish the following technical tasks: implement data storage solutions; manage and develop data processing; and monitor and optimize data solutions. Meanwhile, the DP-201 exam measures your ability to accomplish the following technical tasks: design Azure data storage solutions; design data processing solutions; and design for data security and compliance.

PREREQUISITES

In addition to their professional experience, students who take this training should have technical knowledge equivalent to the following courses:

• Azure fundamentals

• DP-200: Implementing an Azure Data Solution


METHODOLOGY

This program will be conducted with interactive lectures, PowerPoint presentation, discussions and hands-on labs. This course can be conducted as instructor-led (ILT) or virtual instructor-led training (VILT).

Module 2: Azure Batch Processing Reference Architectures

In this module, the student will learn the reference design and architecture patterns for dealing with the batch processing of data. The student will be exposed to dealing with the movement of data from on-premises systems into a cloud data warehouse and how it can be automated. The student will also be exposed to an AI architecture and how the data platform can integrate with an AI solution.

Module 3: Azure Real-Time Reference Architectures

In this module, the student will learn the reference design and architecture patterns for dealing with streaming data. They will learn how streaming data can be ingested by Event Hubs and Stream Analytics to deliver real-time analysis of data. They will also explore a data science architecture the streams data into Azure Databricks to perform trend analysis. They will finally learn how an Internet of Things (IoT) architecture will require data platform technologies to store data.

Gerald has 19 years of information technology experience and on community service and event experiences, he excels impressively. He was invited as a speaker for 3 break-out sessions for Microsoft TechED SEA 2008 on SQL Server 2008 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Center.

He even participated at the “Ask-The-Expert" booth for Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 at the Heroes Launch 2008 and conducted a Microsoft Visual Studio Team System 2008, formerly code-named “Orcas" Metro workshop for Microsoft Certified Partners and independent software vendors (ISVs).

In March 2014, he participated as co-speaker and tag team presenter at the World SharePoint Conference 2014 at Venetian Hotel and Resorts, Las Vegas, USA.

Recently, he conducted a specialized Microsoft SharePoint training and consultancy for a team of 17 people from Carlsberg Group at Carlsberg & Jacobsen Brewhouse in Copenhagen, Denmark.
