AZ-104: Microsoft Azure Administrator


This course teaches IT Professionals how to manage their Azure subscriptions, secure identities, administer the infrastructure, configure virtual networking, connect Azure and on-premises sites, manage network traffic, implement storage solutions, create and scale virtual machines, implement web apps and containers, back up and share data, and monitor your solution.


This course is for Azure Administrators. The Azure Administrator implements, manages, and monitors identity, governance, storage, compute, and virtual networks in a cloud environment. The Azure Administrator will provision, size, monitor, and adjust resources as appropriate.

This course prepares candidates for the Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate certification. To achieve this certification, candidates are required to pass the Exam AZ-104: Microsoft Azure Administrator, which measures your ability to accomplish the following technical tasks: manage Azure identities and governance; implement and manage storage; deploy and manage Azure compute resources; configure and manage virtual networking; and monitor and back up Azure resources.

Candidates attempting this exam should have a minimum of six months of hands-on experience administering Azure. Candidates should have a strong understanding of core Azure services, Azure workloads, security, and governance. Candidates for this exam should have experience in using PowerShell, the Command Line Interface, Azure Portal, and ARM templates.


Successful Azure Administrators start this role with experience on operating systems, virtualization, cloud infrastructure, storage structures, and networking.

• Understanding of on-premises virtualization technologies, including: VMs, virtual networking, and virtual hard disks.

• Understanding of network configuration, including TCP/IP, Domain Name System (DNS), virtual private networks (VPNs), firewalls, and encryption technologies.

• Understanding of Active Directory concepts, including domains, forests, domain controllers, replication, Kerberos protocol, and Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP).

• Understanding of resilience and disaster recovery, including backup and restore operations.

To support the recently released Microsoft Azure role-based certification and training courses, LODS has launched a dedicated series of IT Pro Challenges to support Azure Administrators who manage cloud services that span storage, security, networking, and compute cloud capabilities. Each challenge within the Microsoft Azure Administrator is short in duration, scenario based, hands-on activity that includes a means of assessment.

This series is comprised of 57 challenges and contains over 34 hours of hands on practice. These challenges are to be considered companion exercises that reinforce or expand upon concepts that are covered in the Microsoft role-based training courses.
