Outlines

We often hear agile helps complete projects faster than waterfall but is it true? Are we looking to complete a project faster or wanted to go early to market? These are two different things. This module helps students explore the purpose behind agile methods and how Scrum helps in adopt business agility.

Scrum is based on empirical process control, but what is empirical process control, and why it helps solve complex adaptive problems? In this module, we deep dive into the Scrum framework and understand how each Scrum framework element helps practice empiricism.

Scrum has three roles to have clear accountability, three artifacts to enable transparency and fulfill different commitments. There are five events to inspect and adapt. How all these works together? We run hands-on exercises to learn all these in detail.

Product Owner is there to optimize the value, Scrum Master to help in adopting Scrum, and Developers to produce quality increment. It seems all these are theories unless we understand how they do it. We will learn all these by role-playing during the training to have a deeper understanding of each role.

Product Backlog is a single source of all the requirements, always provides current insight, ordered based on value, risk, and size, and available to all the stakeholders. Sprint Backlog is a plan for developers to meet the Sprint goal, and Product Increment is the sum of all the work done as per the definition of Done by developers. Will learn how to enable transparency through Scrum artifacts.

There are five events in Scrum. The Sprint, Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective. These are opportunities for the Scrum team to inspect and adapt products, plans, and working ways. Effective facilitation techniques help in producing better quality of the product within the Scrum. We will learn how to facilitate scrum events for a better outcome.
